Desktop Review

Icons

  1. The desktop is the large colored area of the screen, usually green.
  2. The desktop has little pictures called icons.
  3. Icons are pictures of files, folders, and applications.
  4. To select is to tell the computer what item you are thinking about.
  5. The icons can be selected by clicking once.
  6. Double clicking an icon opens it.

Windows

  1. A window has a title bar.
  2. A window has things in it.
  3. Windows can be resized, squashed, or closed.
  4. If a window cannot display everything it gets a black scroll bar triangle.

Task Bar

  1. The task bar is at the bottom of the screen.
  2. The task bar has three parts: Start button, open windows buttons, and shortcuts area.
  3. If a window is minimized it can be made large again by clicking on its button in the task bar.

Start Button

  1. The Start button leads to most of the things on the computer.
  2. The main purpose for the start button is to Start applications.
  3. The Start menu has cascading menus leading to other menus.
