Desktop Review

Icons
- The desktop is the large colored area of the screen, usually
green.
- The desktop has little pictures called icons.
- Icons are pictures of files, folders, and applications.
- To select is to tell the computer what item you are thinking
about.
- The icons can be selected by clicking once.
- Double clicking an icon opens it.
Windows
- A window has a title bar.
- A window has things in it.
- Windows can be resized, squashed, or closed.
- If a window cannot display everything it gets a black scroll
bar triangle.
Task Bar
- The task bar is at the bottom of the screen.
- The task bar has three parts: Start button, open windows
buttons, and shortcuts area.
- If a window is minimized it can be made large again by
clicking on its button in the task bar.
Start Button
- The Start button leads to most of the things on the
computer.
- The main purpose for the start button is to Start
applications.
- The Start menu has cascading menus leading to other
menus.
