Applications

	A program is an instruction to a computer. The instructions are written in a computer language. Applications are made up of hundreds of programs. What you see here is a program.
	Many people use Application and program like they mean the same thing. It is more accurate to talk about an Application when you are talking about letter writing (Word Processing), drawing (Graphics), or accounting (Spreadsheets). What you see here is the icon for the application called Internet Explorer.

Commercial applications are written by teams of people then sold (published). To help you understand this think about chapters, books, and publishers. A program is like a chapter. An application is like a book. A group of chapters make a book. A group of programs make an application. Both books and applications are sold by publishers. McGraw-Hill, for example, publishes both books and applications.
